Habitat Heartland Ontario – Offline ReStore to Online sales

Faced with losing a vital source of ReStore income during the pandemic, Habitat Heartland quickly pivoted and shifted its Habitat ReStores online. By June 2020, five out of its seven Habitat ReStores were live, helping them to maintain their sales through online shopping. Even when ReStores were able to open to the public again, Habitat Heartland continued to leverage its new online platform, increasing its social media following and continuing to engage the community….

Habitat Northumberland – Growth of Home Repairs programs

By forming partnerships with other local Habitats and a local non-profit to share resources, Habitat Northumberland grew its Home Repairs programs to support financially vulnerable homeowners with much needed roof repairs, furnace upgrades, window and door and accessibility modifications and many more tasks to keep them in their homes. These programs supported 18 families in 2020….

Honouring Anubhav Chaitanya

We would like to honour our friend and Board member Anubhav Chaitanya, who recently passed away after a battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his work in real estate law, Anu supported Habitat’s mission both in Southern Alberta and as part of Habitat Canada’s National Board of Directors. We continue to be inspired by Anu’s passion for helping families in our communities.  …

Habitat Red Deer – New partnership with local Red Deer Native Friendship Centre

Habitat Red Deer’s new partnership with the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre helped to support local Indigenous families during the pandemic, The Friendship Centre identifies families in need through its Aboriginal Intensive Case Management, Homelessness Prevention Support and Rapid Re-housing programs. Habitat Red Deer supported families in crisis by establishing a preferred purchasing program that allowed families to shop for furniture and other essential household items from its local ReStore….
